Double Decker Coffee Trailers: A Unique and Satisfying Mobile Business

 When my fiancé and I decided to start our own business, we had no idea that owning a double-decker coffee trailer would be such an amazing and lucrative adventure. On our small plot of land we decided to focus on the development of mobile coffee bars, catering to events in our community, festivals, and large companies and events. Not only did we see the potential for matching the right combination of fantastic coffee with a gorgeous presentation, we took enjoyment in building our business.

We purchased large second-hand double-decker trailers from a repurposed trailer dealer, so we could provide events around our area with the highest-quality mobile coffee bars out there. We went back and forth between standard large trailer sizes, coffee machines, water filtration systems, and the layout of the trailer bar, until we eventually had the perfect combination of all four.

At first, it was daunting to think about all we had to go through in order to get our coffee trailer up and running. Between plumbing, permits, licenses, temperatures, and finding the right coffee beans, it didn’t seem like it was ever going to work out. We eventually found staff, supplies, and the perfect location for a coffee shop, and, eventually, we were able to launch our business. Our double-decker trailer was packed with two espresso machines, a commercial pop machine, a standard coffee maker, two commercial-grade grinders, a refrigerator and freezer, and even a giant flat-screen TV. The second floor was our office, with a spacious lounge area complete with all the amenities necessary to function as a mobile business. With a top-notch sound system, a lot of space, and plenty of storage, we had plenty of room to display our products and even had the capability of creating a seating area for people to use.

During our first few months of operation, we began catering to fairs, concerts, and festivals in our area, with great success. Our double-decker trailer allowed us to be able to offer drinks and pastries in one location, while also giving us the opportunity to offer a full coffee bar. We were able to keep the trailer clean and organized, and accommodate customers easily. As we had feared, competing with the larger coffee franchises was difficult, but our unique mobile coffee trailer gave us an edge, and the demand kept flourishing.

As the demand grew, so did our business. We improved our trailer with modifications and additional features such as awnings, countertops, additional lighting, and even awnings to make sure we met the special requests of our customers. After taking on more than the fairs and festivals, we were happy to expand to other large events, such as corporate functions, weddings, and even political events.
